A Massive thank you to OJ, Melissa, Layla, Neil, Karen and the team at Waitrose for treating us to all to their Christmas Fayre with the added surprise of Sushi from their new Sushi Bar.
When Waitrose and John Lewis say they are part of the local community they mean it. On Thursday night we were treated to 6 courses of wines that match specific foods for Christmas, salmon, beef, turkey, and Waitrose’s whole range of hors d’oeuvres, I have just looked up the meaning of hors d’oeuvres it means “outside of work” or as Waitrose would say “Party Food”. Anyway, I could easily eat it all day!
So What would we recommend?
Well all of it, but if you are looking for wine to go with your turkey, then the Cune Rioja Reserva, is exceptional and the right price!!
Hestons mince Pies, are something else, the “Must Have” item to make a special Christmas, matched with the Lustau Moscatel de Chipiona, sweet white.
For the cheeseboard, the Vasterbottensost, has been made in Sweden since 1872, is exceptional and several guests popped down to the store to buy some. I am not sure what the litteral translation means but as ever, moderation in all things, you don’t want to get a big bum!
Waitrose publish a range of Recipe Cards for all you festive needs available in the WGC Store.
Thank you once again for making us all feel part of the Welwyn and Hatfield Community, and a Very Happy Christmas and New Year to everyone.
