Dear Members,
As we all know, good health for our staff and family members is of paramount importance.
There are many isues coming up as a result of our Government failing to protect us from C19, the EU and our National Debt, however perhaps the most important is our health.
Across the country GP’s face to face appointments have been down by an average of some 10 million a month. From March 2020 to May 2021 – 14 months is 140 million 1/2 hour appointments. Thats a lot to catch up on.
Dr Becks Fisher
Dr Becks Fisher, a GP in Oxford and senior policy fellow at the Health Foundation, says there are people with other serious conditions, such as heart failure and non-Covid respiratory problems, who have stayed away too.
She says this is being compounded by a significant rise in people seeking help with mental health problems, as well as those “ricocheting” back from hospital because their health has worsened while waiting for treatment.
Latest figures show there are more than 400,000 people who have been waiting over a year for routine treatment, such as knee and hip replacements – up from 1,600 when the pandemic began.
“I think we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg at the moment – this is going to get a lot worse in the coming months” added Dr Fisher. (Source BBC)
A View from Charities
I hear from my charity connections that there are significant increates in Homelessness, Domestic abuse and loneliness.
Take care in Hospitals and Surgeries
The other side of this coin is that between March 2020 and March 2021 some 33,000 healthy people visited hospitals across the country and caught C19 at the hospital of whom 8,747 have since died. 45 of the Health trusts refused to supply figures. Thats right our Hospitals have killed some 10,000 people.
What can we do?
- Take responsibility for your and your staff’s health care. If you don’t no one else will
- Push to get appointments for a face to face with your doctor. Don’t be fobbed off, which seems to be the current plan.
- Make sure you have PPE. Anti bac before and after. Wear surgical gloves and a face mask. Remove the gloves before you get back in your car
- Campaign for more UK residents to be trained at UK hospital, the GP numbers are down.
Most of all take care. we have not seen the last of the virus mutations our government have created by failing to satop the planes. There are some very serious questions to be answered, and people to be help to account.
