I am Matthew Townsend. My brand is called Avid.

I enjoy making things and innovating, my greatest asset is my curiosity. Through my endeavour to contribute to the Telecommunications sector I find that I am constantly marvelling at human achievement. I am very passionate about what I do. 
I have a passion for technology, but more specifically, how technology disappears into everyday life, the unseen systems that make our day to day world run. I am primarily a security installation engineer come consultant/systems integrator.

Success for me would be to both contribute to the ever evolving portfolio of technology that exists to make our lives easier, and although the sector may be obvious to many people, I feel that to someone taking their journey through school and struggling with their grades and academic life would find a career in technology difficult/impossible to comprehend, as I was this person. 
I would like to  make this sector accessible and at the very least easy to touch. When myself or one of the Avid engineers commission a system, fix a fault, or provide insight that may aid someone else, we feel proud. This is our ultimate success.

I left school with 2 GCSEs and I failed my exams multiple times, My confidence was destroyed. I found myself labouring on building sites. I have to say, an element of luck put me in the path of a telecoms engineer who was both extremely patient and kind, and answered all of my questions with no judgement whatsoever. His words, and the surface level knowledge that he imparted captured my imagination. Today I am a certified Network installation engineer and I am programming cameras and devices to do some really amazing things.

I would like to connect with people who want to A. protect their assets and improve their connectivity and B. who may be considering automating certain processes and think a camera could be the answer but do not know where to start. – there is a lot we can capture with a camera so any questions are absolutely welcome. I love having conversations where someone asks could the camera do this…
